4 Easy DIY Stationery Gifts with ONE Paper Collection!
Hey friends, Allie from AllieScraps here to share some ideas for personal, DIY gifts perfect for small teacher gifts or hostess gifts! If you’re looking for a few thoughtful, creative gifts that feel personal—but don't take hours to make—you’re going to love these ideas!
Today I’m sharing four simple, coordinated stationery gifts you can make all at once using printable papers from Traci Reed Designs! I used the Trailblazer papers and 4x6 patterned paper cards for these projects.
1. Custom Patterned Pens
These are always a favorite for me because they feel so unique—but they’re surprisingly easy to make.
All you’re doing is swapping out the inner barrel of a clear pen with patterned paper. I used Pentel pens (highly recommend—they write really well), and added strips of coordinating paper inside. Be sure to check out my tutorial for how to make these here .
You can even mix patterns within the same set for a fun, layered look.
2. Mini Composition Notebooks
These little notebooks are adorable and incredibly giftable, because they can slide right in a purse or pocket!
Start with small composition notebooks (Dollar Tree usually has multi-packs), then:
Cover the front and back with patterned paper
Add washi tape along the spine for that classic composition notebook feel
This + a pen = instant mini gift set.
3. Decorated Legal Pads (The Easiest One!)
If you want something super quick and low-effort, this is it.
Take a standard junior legal pad and simply cover the top branded section with a strip of patterned paper. (If you use a 6x4 patterned card, you barely have to trim the edges for a clean fit.)
That’s it. (I used a combination of a permanent glue stick and glue dots to make sure the paper stuck to the top)
It’s one of those small upgrades that makes something basic feel way more special.
4. Mini Clipboard (My Personal Favorite)
This one might be my favorite because it feels a little more “finished” and gift-ready.
To make it:
Cover a mini clipboard with patterned paper (You can just do the front, but I like front and back)
(I used a combination of a permanent glue stick and glue dots to make sure the paper stuck to the clipboard securely)
Add washi tape accents (I used a wood grain style for a subtle detail) or even add fussy cut details from the sticker or embellishment packs!
If you want to finish it off a little more, you could seal it with Mod Podge or contact paper!
The real magic happens when you combine these into a coordinated gift set.
Because everything uses the same paper (Trailblazer) collection, it all matches effortlessly—which makes your gift feel intentional and put-together.
Wrap it with a simple coordinating ribbon or tuck it into a small gift bag, and you’ve got a thoughtful handmade gift that doesn't require a ton of time or effort. It’s creative, practical, and honestly… just really fun to make!
