5 Tips from Ruth for Scrapbooking on Vacation!

Do you like to take your scrapbooking with you? I love to scrapbook in the moment with a vacation mini album or travelers notebook on the move. Here are a few tips for making scrapbooking part of your trip!

Use a Coordinating Collection

When you are limited for space having all your papers and embellishments co-ordinating makes packing easier, and ensures your album will be balanced. It's like a capsule wardrobe for your scrapbook!

Think Minimialist on Tools

If you are like me and you have bulging cupboards of tools it can be hard to decide what to take with you. For me, if it's a quick trip with limited luggage and a travellers notebook I can live with a pen, scissors, a glue stick, some pink tape, an emery board and a tiny printer - the kind that prints photos as stickers. But this trip I was decadent and brought my selphy. (Forgot the paper trimmer though and missed it every day!)

Plan Ahead

If you know you are doing specific activities, you can add in some “extras” to your capsule wardrobe… for example a specific embellishment or paper you want to use for that afternoon tea or trip to the theatre or whatever.

Be Prepared to Scrap Wherever You Are

I have scrapped all over the world in camper vans, ski chalets, on campsite picnic tables and now on a cruise ship!! Your set up won't be perfect but use whatever comes to hand. And include more ephemera than you usually would. (That pillow mint wrapper deserves a spot in your scrapbook, you know it does!)

Have Fun!

This should go without saying but the main point of your trip is enjoying the journey not “keeping up”. It’s fun to scrap in the moment if you have downtime, but don't miss that sunrise because you felt pressure to catch up on the album the night before!
