Ana - Our Story Matters

There’s something so comforting about following a sketch, and this week’s Sketchy Sunday was exactly what I needed. Sketches are therapeutic for me, they take away the pressure of starting from scratch and let me focus on what I love most: telling the story and of course, documenting memories.

For this layout, I documented my very first pop-up market here in Saudi Arabia. It was something I’ve been wanting to try for a while, just to test the waters and see if there’s a space for handmade crafts here. It turned out to be such a special experience, and I’m so glad I captured it in this page.

I used the Our Story Matters collection, and honestly, it’s one I know I’ll be reaching for again and again. It’s very cute and vibrant, truly a must-have for any crafter or scrapbooker!

To add a bit more texture and detail, I used my Cricut to cut the scalloped borders and added hand stitching to some of the elements. Those little touches always make a project feel extra special to me.

Sketch + story + a collection I love = a page that came together so beautifully.

Becky - Here Comes The Sun

I love a sketch and when I saw this one I knew the 2 photos I wanted to use. But which collection should I pick? Well, I love Here Comes the Sun which is a former free gift from 2021 and is available to buy for only $5 on Traci’s site so it’s a good one to buy if you fancy giving digital or hybrid scrapbooking a try. I used a mix of the digital embellishments and the stickers on this layout and as I didn’t have much journaling used one of the smaller tags. I did some paint under the tag as there is mixed media shown on the sketch. I love how this turned out and hope you give this sketch a go too!

Luly - Besties Who Brunch

As you may know by now - I take a lot of pictures! But I also love more restful pages with a few less photos & places for journaling. Sketch 73 is great one to use for that beautiful page design to create that “break”. I knew this would be perfect for the start of a few pages that I will create for fun weekend at She Loves Color (a scrapbook retreat event) in Wisconsin. I even got to meet Traci in person in 2023!!

I used Besties Who Brunch collection for my page- the colors and the sentiments are perfect for my whole series of pictures I will have from the weekend. Plus who doesn’t love being able to make personalized friendship bracelets! I will mix pocket pages with embellishments and other sketches from Traci’s collection (she has over 70!) to finish up documenting my weekend adventures.

Melinda - Story Foundations: Faves

I am always up for a sketch and today was no exception!

I did, however, decide to challenge myself a little and create a digital layout. I’ve never done a completely digital page before and I can now certainly see the appeal! I played with the Story Foundations: Chapter 2: Faves collection for this pair of photos. I love how easy it was to add in lots of different patterns (and change them out if I didn’t like it!) and play with tonnes of different options until I found just the right thing! I won’t be switching to digital however I can see perhaps a few more pages created this way!

Kristin - Summer Camp

I knew I wanted to use a more masculine collection by Traci to catch up on scrapbooking some photos of my oldest son...Summer Camp was the perfect collection for this! I decided to document a couple photographs of a trip we took to Gatlinburg as the collection is more outdoors/camping/nature focused. I just love the little fire and tree stickers in the collection as well as the beautiful blue tones in the papers I chose for this layout. The digital kit also came with some beautiful stitching and so I added those on to some of the papers to create a stitched appearance. I added a few wood veneer and canvas flair pieces I had in my stash that perfectly complemented this collection and I'm so happy with the result!

Cheryl - Independence Day

I was instantly drawn to the layered paper design in Traci’s Sketchy Sunday #73 template. It has such a dynamic foundation. To get started, I selected four different patterned papers along with a single solid paper to ground the layout. One of my favorite details is the scalloped edging that borders two of the paper layers as it creates a beautiful sense of separation while still keeping everything cohesive and flowing together.

As someone who leans toward a curated maximalist style (I fully believe more is more, just with intention), I followed the sketch’s suggested embellishment placement and began building clusters in those areas. Layer by layer, the page really came to life, with each element adding depth and personality without feeling overwhelming.

By the time I finished, the design naturally formed a strong diagonal flow across the page, which I absolutely love. My main photo anchors one end, while my journaling balances it at the opposite side, creating a visual path that draws your eye across the layout exactly as I’d hoped. This sketch has such strong lines, and I can already tell it’s one I’ll return to again and again. Next time, I’m excited to experiment with flipping or rotating the composition.
