Caroline - Candy Coated Christmas
When I first saw this sketch I felt super inspired … and also a little challenged … all those circles… not my normal style!!!
I pulled out all my punches and Traci’s Candy Coated Christmas collection and started there! As I decided to stick with a 12x12 layout I knew I would have a cardstock background so opted to stick to the patterned papers with white backgrounds too.
I chose to create added interest on my cardstock with mist splatters and distress oxide blending under the photos. I absolutely LOVE the look of that combined with the cute paper clusters.
You’ll see I went with clusters of circles as embellishments … working with the sketch an my own style. I ADORE the result and think I may challenge myself to work with this sketch at 6x8 size next for a December Daily foundation page!!!
I’m so looking forward to seeing what the rest of the team do with this one … and you too if you join in!
Bruna - Make Merry
This sketch was perfect because I love to use circles in my layouts! But my style is more clean, so I've opted for a white background with no mixed media since the papers were so colorful already! I¥ve used Make Merry and Festive collections for this layout.† † † I've used some stamping on vellum for a different texture and distressed all my circles. I used 3 photos that I love with my mother and my niece at Christmas last year.
Kristin - All Is Bright
The sketch was such a fun and challenging one! I chose the All is Bright collection to create a bright and colorful feel to the layout, much like the Christmas lights my son was admiring in the photograph! I wanted to create a rainbow mixed media background using inks that matched the colors and the papers from the collection. I punched out 3 circles from each of the patterned papers and backed the photograph with the striped rainbow paper in the collection. I chose circular-shaped elements from the stickers to add varying sizes of circles to the clusters. I went with a tone on tone look when arranging the clusters and sticker elements. I added phrases and single light bulbs around the page to add more depth and dimension. I added the string of lights from the sticker sheet to put more attention back to the photograph and added the title "Merry and Bright"...which captures the feel of this photograph, collection, sketch, and season!
Danica - Oh, What Fun!
What a fun sketch from Traci this week! All the circles are perfect for filling with patterned papers and different bits. And that’s exactly what I did! For my page I used Traci’s Christmas collection Oh What Fun! I decided on the woodgrain print for the background layer. I did go back and forth between this and a white background, but I liked the pop of the patterns on the darker paper, so woodgrain for the win! I filled the circles with different patterned papers trying to make sure circles next to each other had different papers. I also used some round embellishments like buttons, brads, and snowflakes to fill the circular spots on the sketch. The kit had these awesome shimmery stars in it so I just used those on the star spots. To finish it off I put a string of lights under the trio of photos. I just love how cute and festive it turned out!
