Inspire Your Stories in March with these 50 Story Prompts!
March sits in that in-between space. Winter isn’t quite finished, spring is starting to show up, and daily life keeps moving right along. It’s a month of small shifts, changing routines, and noticing what feels new, different, or in progress.
That’s why the March Story Foundations prompt list includes 50 story and photo prompts. There’s no expectation to use them all and no pressure to document every day. Think of this list as a flexible set of ideas you can dip into whenever you want a little direction or creative momentum.
The March prompts focus on progress, change, and everyday observations. You’ll find invitations to document things like habits you’re starting or restarting, signs of the season changing, small details at home, and moments that capture how life feels right now.
You’ll also see prompts that encourage honesty and creativity. Messy projects, unfinished tasks, reflections, simple routines, and small wins all have a place here. Not every story needs to be big to be worth telling.
The goal of this prompt list is simple: help you pay attention. To notice what’s shifting, what’s staying steady, and what you want to remember about this season. Often, it’s the ordinary details that end up meaning the most later on.
You can use these prompts however you like. Pick one when you feel stuck, let a prompt spark a memory you already documented, or simply scroll the list until something clicks. There’s no right order and no wrong way to use them.

Melinda - “Bussing Leaves/Flowers” using the Story Foundations: Faves Collection
We have planted a number of fruit trees in our yard over the last few years and we are lucky enough to have managed for them to actually fruit! Last October we got our third lot of blooms for our Granny Smith apple tree, along with blooms for the third year on our passionfruit vine. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, we also got our very first blooms on our little lemon tree! I love seeing these new flowers and watching the magic of nature as they morph from flowers to fruit!
Shayla - “Self Care Ritual” using the Smitten Collection
I used the “self-care ritual” prompt to document a scrapbook layout about 3 things I like to do even when life gets busy. The Smitten collection feels like a great option for documenting any sweet parts of life. I especially enjoyed using the balloon elements and jelly alpha.
Bruna - “A Cozy Rainy Day Scene” using Trailblazer
For this layout, I started with the photo, its colors, and the rainy day theme to choose the paper collection. Trailblazer was perfect because it had lilac and green, matching the photo, and the digital kit had beautiful clouds. Plus, wonderful flowers, which are a must in my layouts!
