Love Your Stories in February with these 50 Story Prompts!

February often gets framed as a loud, love-filled month, but in real life it’s usually quieter and more introspective than that. It’s a time when winter still lingers, routines are well established, and we start checking in with ourselves a little more honestly. It’s a month made up of small comforts, subtle shifts, and moments that don’t always announce themselves as “important,” even though they are.

That’s why the February Story Foundations prompt list includes 50 story and photo prompts for a month with fewer days. There’s no expectation to use them all and no pressure to document daily. Instead, this list is meant to feel like a flexible collection of ideas you can return to when you’re ready. Choose the prompts that resonate, skip the ones that don’t, and let this be a supportive tool rather than a checklist.

Many of the February prompts lean into reflection, self-connection, and everyday comfort. They invite you to notice things like what makes you feel safe, how you recharge, what brings you quiet joy, and where you’re finding balance right now. These are the kinds of stories that are easy to overlook but often become the most meaningful when you look back.

You’ll also see prompts that encourage creativity, play, and honesty. Messy projects, small wins, challenges you’re working through, and moments of calm all have a place here. February doesn’t have to be perfectly polished or overly sentimental to be worth documenting. Real life, exactly as it is, is more than enough.

The goal of this prompt list is to help you slow down and see your days with fresh eyes. To notice what’s already there and to remind you that your story doesn’t have to be big or dramatic to matter. Sometimes the most accurate snapshot of a season comes from the quiet moments, the small comforts, and the gentle check-ins along the way.

You can use these prompts however you like. Pick one when you feel stuck, let a prompt spark a memory you already documented, or simply scroll the list until something clicks. There’s no right order and no wrong way to use them.

Hanna - “Current Obsession” using the Island Time Collection

Current Obsession was the prompt that really spoke to me. My new hobby is dotting art and when I saw a cute dotted paper in the Island Time kit, I just had to use that as an inspiration.

This tropical kit maybe didn’t feel like an obvious choice but it helped that some of the papers matched the subject of my photo. I dotted this little bowl with blues, greens and a dash of white. So that’s what I chose. I used these 3D circle shapes to create a cool background, the circles compliment the theme of the hobby. The small banners with unwind and relax also apply to it, do they were an easy pick! A title and some journaling and I recolored the alpha for the subtitle and then the layout was done. I love how cohesive it turned out!

Karidan - “xx” using the Story Foundations: Routines Collection

I have recently changed my crafting area to upstairs from a much larger room in the basement. So lots of transitions are happening in here! Lots of moving things around just about weekly but though the space is smaller I am loving it! I have windows and I am with the rest of the family upstairs! I decided to use the January routines kit to document this time in my craft room because right now it is a huge part of everyday and I know it will change a lot in the next few months and I love documenting the change!

Ophelia - “Something that Feels like Winter Magic” using Hygge Season

There are many techniques you can use to create your page. One of those that works very well is Repetition. As a photographer, I usually take several shots of the same moment. I will sometimes use these photos all on one page so that it tell the story for you.

Here is my page using Hygge Season and Hygge Winter. I picked three photos that I shot of my daughter tossing snow in the air. I did include journaling on my page but before you read it, you can already tell what the page is about just from the repetition of the photos. The story unfolds from the moment she throws up the snow watching it fall then ending with a smile on her face.

Allie - “Something that Made Me Smile” using Story Foundations & Story Foundations: Routines

For this “pick a prompt” I chose “something that made me smile” — and it sounds silly, but walking home, way after bedtime with my kiddos, in the middle of a snowstorm… that made me smile! Our town has been completely snowed in with “Winter Storm Fern” and thankfully, we have very very good friends who live down the street from us who invited us over to play so we all didn’t go stir crazy!  I had to capture the walk home with the kids all bundled up and exhausted, because it just showed so much in one photo.  I used a combination of Story Foundations and Story Foundations: Routines together to make this layout — I chose some of the blues, greens, and purples out of the paper packs to make that “winter feeling” appear on the page — it’s so great that those colors all coordinate across the kits!  I can’t wait to use more of the kits this year all together to have a really cohesive album for 2026.

My journaling reads: At least when we have a major snow storm that shuts down the entire city (and the entire MidWest) we have the best of friends who live just across the street -- no snow plows needed for these play dates/toddler weddings!  (Jan 2026)
