Stuck on Your Album Opener? Try This Idea from Melinda!
Hello friends!
When I chose my subject for this post I had no idea what December and the beginning of 2026 would throw at me so any rough ideas I had in my head kinda went by the wayside!
That being said, I’m not actually all that worried or upset that those plans are now different!
I ended up following my gut which was a super fun cover/title page for my family 2026 album and I LOVE how it came together!
The Story Foundations collection is AMAZING and exactly what it is advertised as!
As soon as I had the idea to create a cover/title page I knew I wanted to start my foundation with a transparent element.
Can you tell I’m still playing in my December album?! Use the inspiration when you have it!!!
I picked the black & white version of the camera paper and printed a whole A4 sheet knowing that would work on the right side of an almost 12x12 page.
I played with lots of patterns, in both the colourful & neutral designs. And the vertical & horizontal designs! And I ended up with the super fun cluster on the front.
I’ve used 2 of the alphas - glitter glue in navy and typewriter in pink - and added those to the pattern paper I chose for the left side of my page, vertically, for something a little different. I made sure to add a drop shadow so I could print that strip exactly as is and have it look like it was popped up off the page!
The back uses the same pattern paper next to the transparency (these were stitched together) and a photo of myself & my family.
I’ve matched (mostly) the shapes front & back over the transparency so there is no “weird” bits when you look from either side.
Like I mentioned earlier, I love, love, love the way this came out and though it wasn’t my initial plan it’s certainly helped me come up with a new one!!
Life can and does sometimes throw curve balls that are totally unexpected. I’ve learned to give myself grace in those times. Plans are all well & good; trust me, I LOVE a well thought out plan but sometimes letting go of those and embracing the “new” or “different” can be the best gift you can give yourself.
I hope that wherever you find yourself on your scrapbooking journey you find some of my tips useful & inspiring!
Until next time, Melinda x
