Color Blocking with Bruna
Color blocking in scrapbooking is a design technique that uses distinct blocks of color to create a clean and organized layout. It involves grouping similar colors together rather than scattering them, which helps emphasize specific photos and simplifies the creative process, making choosing patterned paper and embellishments easier.† It also can be used when you only have paper scraps or want to make a high-contrast and structured layout.
You can use only paper and stickers or die cuts in this technique (always grouping them by color) or add other elements like stenciling, stitching, enamel dots, buttons, etc to add interest to the project!
I chose 4 colors from the Plot Twists Collections and decided for a grid layout. I cut 4 squares from each color, 2 of each paper and cut a scalloped border in each one.
Then I made a background with Distress Oxide and stencil. I added the 4 paper squares in the same colors of my stenciling, making a grid design.
I printed 2 flowers from the digital kit, 2 in each color that I was using and gave them movement and texture by rotating the tweezers in each petal and then I glued the 2 of them for more volume.
Then I added the flowers and other embellishments in each color block, always grouping them by color.
The collection has a very fun and specific theme, but I don't usually scrapbook about bad days, so I cut the word COOL from a card for my title of a beautiful photo of my trip to Yosemite Park.
You can use a grid design like this one or strips of paper or color like those other projects (with Bookish and Wildflowers). Have fun!
