Create Your Own Daily Tag Mini Album to Celebrate Your Small Wins!

Hi everyone,

I am happy to be here on Traci’s blog sharing this idea for capturing small wins in this cute tag minibook created with the “Milestones” collection.

I created this mini-book as a gift for my daughter but love it so much that I am going to create a few more as gifts (and keep one for myself!)

Let’s go through what steps I took to create this:

Step 1: Set my Intention and Gather my Supplies

My intention with this minibook was to help her capture a week’s worth of small wins. With this in mind I pulled in the days of the week die cuts from the Story Foundations kit that Traci released back in January. She created that core kit to coordinate perfectly with all of the subsequent kits she has released (and has yet to release) this year … she did a GREAT job! Look how well they match!

If you don’t want to do a weekly formatted project you could skip the days of the week and add in sentiments, prompts or simply go big on the embellishment clusters

For my tags I wanted to use patterns as my base so I worked with the patterned 3x4 cards. I love how these come in both orientations of patterns. I opted for the vertical cards for this book but am going to create the next one with a horizontal orientation. It was a simple case of snipping the corners and punching a hole to create tags out of these cards.

Step 2: Decide on my Formula

For projects like this I like to create a formula for myself that I then work with on each page of the mini book. I knew that I wanted to leave the back of every other tag blank for a photo, and alternate that with a sentiment card.

I started with the cover, deciding to use a label shape that I cut from one of the 3x4 journal cards as my repeating element. I cut that shape from a neutral grid pattern (also from the Story Foundations core kit - I have printed this paper out ALOT this year!!)

Step 3: Assemble and Embellish

Next I worked through each day of the week building my mini-book page. The formula I decided on for each page was: patterned tag, neutral label, day of the week, word phrase sentiment.

Once I had assembled all 7 days I went back through and added in embellishments from the sticker pack on to each card. I then added all of the cards on to a book binding ring to create the mini-book.

I added those sentiment cards on the back of alternate day of the week cards. As i intend this book to be held vertically I made sure to cut the sentiment cards so that the corners of the tag were on the bottom of these cards!

Finally I stamped a title on to the cover page and for extra cuteness I added lots of fibres, ribbons and wool that matched the colours of the collection on to that binding ring. I even tied a couple of cute charms on to these too.

“Milestones” is the perfect collection for capturing and celebrating BIG wins but also the small wins too. I have a few birthdays coming up later in May and these minibooks will be PERFECT gifts to send off in the mail.

I hope I have inspired you to give this simple but cute project a go.

Bye for now

Caroline
