Creating Texturiffic Pocket Pages with Luly
There’s something magical about the moment the world tips fully into spring - when color returns and flowers start growing and everything feels Brighter! Visiting the Blenheim Palace Garden Show in June 2024 was exactly that kind of moment for me, and it felt like the perfect story to document with Traci Reed’s newest collection, Story Foundations: Brighter Days.
The collection’s palette pairs beautifully with outdoor photos:
soft pinks and yellows that lush summer flowers –{ in case you didn’t know (and I did not) the UK and in particular the Cotswolds are in a much more temperate climate zone so they have so, so many more options for growing. Hence why the English are so famous for their gardens!}
Plus add whimsical icons and uplifting phrases that capture joy of a garden party
As you can see I created a double page spread for my 10 x 8 album with a couple of flip ups… and yes I have that many pictures! I even created some collage photos on 2- 4”x6” photos to sneak a few more in! I love the ability to create pages in pockets and outside pages too.
I created a ton of texture on these pages using lots of different techniques. On this page I layered a 2nd set of butterflies over my journaling card and popped up the wings with little dimensionals underneath. Size this page is on the left side of my album – I actually attached this card on top of the page protector – don’t be afraid to do this with strong adhesive!
I also created a flip up and used one of the circle tags for a tab for my flip up. Another way to add texture and dimension is to add glossy accents to some of the elements like I did on some of the buttons and the heart flairs.
For my facing page I added sewing for a lot of texture and a flip up post card to round out my documenting. This page is outside of the page protector and I created the background with strips of all the beautiful pattern papers that I then sewed. It definitely saved some time to print as 1 page. I then added lots of elements in the same color as the patterned paper for a “color blocked” look
The Garden Show was so full of bright colors, textures, the artistry of the garden ornament displays — and hopefully I’ve shown how the Brighter Days gave me the perfect foundation to tell those stories. The pocket page and pocket card make it easy to highlight the details.
Every page I’ve created so far feels like a ray of sunshine in my scrapbook! These are the kinds of memories that deserve a bright, joyful home in my albums
I can’t wait to keep creating with it.
