Three Digital Card Designs Using Jack & Skelly with Shayla

Making cards has got to be one of my favourite almost-instant-gratification crafts! Whenever I find myself in a bit of a craft slump, I make a few cards (either digital or physical), and just like that, I’m cured.

Today, I’m sharing three card designs I made recently using the Jack & Skelly collection. Yep, that’s right! I used a Halloween-themed collection, even though none of these cards are for Halloween. Who says spooky supplies can’t be used all year round?

First up is a beautiful floral card with a “Thinking of You” sentiment. I love keeping a few of these in my card stash because they’re perfect for so many different occasions, depending on what you write inside. With that in mind, I’ve left the inside blank for now so it’s ready to go whenever the right occasion comes along.

Next, I was inspired by the dancing Skelly to create a “Sorry You Got Hurt” card. Broken bones suck, so why not try to bring a smile to a friend’s face with a lighthearted skeleton card? Sometimes, a little humour is just what the doctor ordered!

The final card in my trio is a thank-you card. I go through so many of these each year, so it’s always a good idea to stock up whenever I’m in the card-making mood.

I used the stars scattered across some of the journal boxes and tags to add a few grounding elements. They also help the sparkly alpha stand out a little more against the busy background papers.

I created all three designs in Affinity Photo 2 on my Mac. Once I was happy with the finished designs, I exported them as JPEGs and added them to a Pages document to make printing easy. After printing, I assembled the pieces onto kraft cardstock card bases and finished everything off with a few gems for extra sparkle.

Thanks for joining me for this little card-making show-and-tell! I hope I’ve inspired you to look at your themed collections in a new way and try using them for something unexpected.

If you create any cards of your own with the Jack & Skelly collection, be sure to share them in the Traci Reeds Designs Facebook group or on Instagram. I’d love to see what you make!

Happy crafting!
