Dress Up Your Die Cuts: Three Ideas to Enhance your Die Cut Ephemera

Digital collections offer so many possibilities when it comes to creating your scrapbook layouts. You can modify the collections to work for you and print what you want when you want it. The possibilities are endless. When I am working with my printed die cuts, I often look for ways to dress up the embellishments to give them more interest. For my project today I used the sticker embellishments from the Wander & Wonder collection which I printed and cut with my silhouette.

With my elements cut I pulled together some items from my stash that I could use to add dimension to the die cuts. For this project I pulled Nuvo drops, Glossy Accents, enamel dots and sequins. Using these few products, we are going to dress up our die cuts to use on our new scrapbook layout.

(Colors of Nuvo Drops: Sea Breeze, Bubblegum Blush, Dandelion Yellow, Midnight Blue, Berry Blue, Morning Dew)

My first idea to dress up the die cuts I pulled the cameras, floral die cuts, Nuvo drops and enamel dots. I proceeded to fill in sections of the florals in each die cut with the Nuvo drops using coordinating colors. The Nuvo drops added dimension and interest quickly and easily. The enamel dots were then placed int the center of the cameras to dress them up. Other options you could use with be stickles, paint pens, liquid pearls, anything you have in your stash to add dimension.

Next, I pulled the Glossy Accents and filled one of the postage stamp embellishments and the sunglasses. To me nothing is better than glossy accents to create that mirror like glass effect. I filled in the water and sun of the postage stamp and the lenses of the sunglasses. The effect is a clear glossy finish that adds depth to the die cuts.

Lastly, I chose some yellow sequins, and the sun die cut. To dress up this die cut I simply filled the center of the sun with glue and dumped some of the sequins into the center of the sun. The effect is a sparkly dimensional embellishment perfect for any project. This technique is so simple but really adds to the die cut taking it from flat to dynamic in seconds.

With all my embellishments dressed up I created a scrapbook layout that now has die cuts filled with depth and interest. While these ideas are all simple and easy to implement, they really do add the perfect touch to any project. I hope these ideas have inspired you to get your products and dress up your die cuts for your next project. We can wait to see what you create.
