Traci - Besties Who Brunch

I was searching for a photo that tells a story all by itself from our recent trip to Cancun and this one of brunch made me laugh. I knew it would be perfect for this sketch paired with the new Besties Who Brunch collection! I added some distressing and paper tears to the sketch to add some texture and movement, but otherwise stuck pretty closely to its clean lines!

Becky - Sunkissed

I have so many photos to scrap from our recent holiday to the South of France and this sketch was perfect for this photo! I used Sunkissed and printed out several of the patterned papers but most of the embellishments I had left over from previous layouts so it was good to use them up, especially the little icecreams which I had created using one of the digital stamps, a sheet of rainbow foil and the foil quill pen on my Silhouette. This is a great way to use the digital stamps for hybrid scrapbooking. I also created the title using the digital alpha and adding some glitter Nuvo Drops to the white part which gave added dimension and sparkle.

Cheryl - Ex Libris Galaxias

I’m always drawn to a good one-photo template or sketch, and as soon as I saw this composition, I immediately knew which photo I wanted to use. It’s a picture of a stack of books my husband and I picked up while visiting various library bookstores. Since all our shelves are already full, we ended up stacking these behind the office door. At first, I felt a little embarrassed by the clutter, but now just knowing those books are there makes me excited to dig through the pile for my next read (assuming I can resist checking more out from the library!). Instead of using a traditional title, I added a journal card featuring a quote by Louisa May Alcott, and kept my journaling just beneath it. For a playful touch, I layered mixed media elements onto a starry kraft background and used a resized and duplicated TBR stamp throughout. I followed the template’s cluster placements but expanded on them with additional embellishments like word art, labels, and flowers. Traci’s book-themed collections are all wonderful, but I especially love the vibrant colors of Ex Libris Galaxias. If you are a bibliophile, and haven’t picked up this collection, I highly recommend it!

Caroline - Besties Who Brunch

I’ve been away from my home (and craft space) for a few weeks but was really keen to join in with this week’s Sketchy Sunday. I wanted to make the process super easeful for myself so I worked with a version of the sketch in Photoshop Elements first. This enabled me to try out different papers and embellishment before I committed to printing them.

I decided to work at a 12x12 size and as they largest I can print is A4, I re-sized one layer to be that size, but then worked on the original dimensions for the remaining layers.

This process meant that when I printed all of my papers were sized exactly how I wanted them to be in-line with the sketch (which made me super happy and meant I could put the layout together really easily)

I’ve worked with the new “Besties who Brunch” for this layout but opted to stay within just the blue palette - pulling in one of the solids too for a break in patterns (I love the solids in the patterned paper collection … one tip from me … don’t overlook the gem that these are!!!)

I hope you enjoy working with this sketch as much as I do, and enjoy the inspiration from the other takes on this here by the team.

Donna - Wander & Wonder

My layout is about our first trip to the Philippines as a family of three. My little one was so excited to ride on an airplane and to see our relatives. We didn’t have many photos on the airplane ride, but I loved each of those that captured my daughter’s goofy antics. Converting photos to black and white is always my go-to technique to make it pop on the layout. I followed the sketch as it is, but I added lots of layers and clusters of florals and other elements in the kit for depth.
