A Word of the Year Mini Album from Caroline using the Story Foundations Collection
Hi everyone,
Happy New Year! Today I am over on Traci’s blog putting together a Word of the Year project … a mini book that I am gifting to a friend who doesn’t scrapbook.
I am working with the new Story Foundations core kit and it is perfect for this project as it has cute monthly cards, filler cards, journal cards and so much more!
First I needed to decide on format. I have decided to create this mini book at 6x4 size. As I said, my friend doesn’t scrapbook, so I wanted to make it really easy for her to add writing and a photo every month into her book. This format makes that really easeful.
I then decided which variety of the 6x4 monthly cards I wanted to work with … I opted for the cute Kraft ones for a nice neutral divider each month. Before I printed them I opened them in Photoshop Elements and added the phrase “with my word” to each card with the Black typewriter font from the collection.
Once they were done I printed them, the 6x4 journal cards and some fillers. I also printed the “My Word” prompt card for the cover, and created a couple of transparencies (for the cover and cuteness inside)
Next, I laid everything out to be sure I was punching my holes along the correct edge, then went through and punched everything.
I decided to adhere the journal cards to the monthly dividers but only on 3 sides … creating a pocket between them to fill with tags later. Once these were all stuck together I trimmed the edges where anything didn’t quite line up.
I also decided to leave the back of each filler/ patterned card blank … that is for her to adhere her photo to. She can also adhere extras to the patterned card.
Once everything was in an order I liked, I added them onto rings before trimming my scraps into tags for those pockets. I stamped some prompts onto the cards to encourage some reflective thoughts in her busy times… added ribbon and twine, and called that it.
I am so happy with this mini book and I know my friend will be really appreciative of this way of capturing words and photos through the year.
This was super easy to make and is really cute … I recommend giving it a go for yourself, or someone you think may be ready to dabble with some memory keeping… you may be able to get them hooked on it too!
