Details Matter: Documenting the Celebration Decor with Story Foundations: Milestones

We celebrate so many events from graduations to anniversaries and new babies to birthdays. Typically, these celebrations are documented with photos of people or things we are celebrating. This blog post today is a reminder to document the things that go into making those milestones so special. The featured layout with this post today documents some of the birthday cakes that I have created over the years for my son. I wanted to take the time to document and remember some of the cakes my son requested for his special day. The Story Foundations – Milestones collection was the perfect collection to document all your milestones. This kit features icons and paper that fit with any occasion.

To begin with I pulled together several papers and embellishments from both the digital and sticker sheets. I created my background using the yellow and white diagonal striped paper and layered one of the grid papers from the original story foundation collection.

To the background of my layout, I added some stenciling using a birthday stencil from my stash and the Faded Jean Distress Ink and then added some splatters with Faded Jean Distress Spray. While the background was drying, I tore the blue and white polka dot and the multicolored star papers.

Using the orange tone on tone pattern paper in the collection and the cake with confetti paper I cut two 4 ½ inch strips to which I cut banners to the bottom. These two banners are then layered under the two torn papers are the top of the layout. The photos which were backed with the green tone on tone pattern papers will be placed on top of these two banners.

For the title of the page, I used the yellow alphas from the collection. I layered the letters several times to add dimension to the letters and then placed them along the torn edge of the blue and white polka dot paper at the top of the page.

To finish the page I pulled the cake, balloons and party hat elements from the collection and layered them up in three locations on the pages to create a visual triangle. To complete the clusters, I added some red enamel dots to add a different texture.

I hope this layout has inspired you to document those things that go into making your milestones so special. Remember details matter and often have stories that can be fun to document in our albums. Have fun celebrating those milestones.
