A Unique Take On Using A Themed Cut File with Shayla
I’m sure I’m not the only one with a large library of cut files. Yet, even though I have so many it often feels as though I don’t have the right theme for my layout.
Today I challenged myself to use a cut file beyond its intended theme. I started with the 6x8 Frosted Donut Cut File by Traci Reed (psst it’s in the freebies section of the website!) and re-imagined it for use with my Poolside themed layout.
When I was browsing cut files, the Frosted Donut caught my eye because I thought I kind of looked like the pool floaties from the Poolside collection.
I used Cricut Design Space to size the cut file for my 4x8 traveler’s notebook page and used the slice tool to make my cut file of 3 ‘donuts’ instead of the original 6. Then I chose papers from the collection to match the pool floatie that I used on my opposite page. I cut the design using my Cricut Maker.
Next I adhered the pink layer with adhesive only around the middle so that the free edge can curl up and add some ruffle-like dimension. Added the assembled cut file to my left hand layout page and now I have a custom pool floatie to add visual interest to my title page!
What cut files do you have that you can re-imagine a use for?
