Hello and welcome to the Thirty-Fourth edition of our fun series: Mix It Up Monday! We love to show you how easy it is to mix and match TRD collections to create something new and wonderful!

For this month’s mash-up, we took two very different collections, both in theme and in color and combined them together so we could see how to make such a mash up work effectively! Wander & Wonder is a beautiful travel-themed collection with calming and relaxing colors while True North is a typical nautical-themed collection in a bold color palette!

While these two collections seem at odds with each other, the team did a great job finding common ground and creating masterpieces!

It was really easy to mix True North with Wander and Wonder! The collections were perfect for scrapping a photo from our Alaskan cruise. My plan of attack was to pull out the elements that had blues in them since they were easiest to match up. I also loved the helm Traci has in the True North kit, so I used those to build my clusters instead of using a larger flower. This is a great way to incorporate non floral elements into your clusters. To save time, I used a template from Fiddle Dee Dee. Hope you like my layout as much as I do!

I decided to go simple with this design and was inspired by a layout I saw on Pinterest. I admit, it was challenging to not put as much elements on my page. I do love the final design using Traci’s Wander and Wonder and True North kits.

For this week’s Mix It Up Monday, I started with my photo on the right side of the page, and then started building layers of journal cards and TN papers from the collections behind my picture. From that point, I began adding embellishments that ended up in the shape of a “C” around my photo so that they eye moved all around the page, but always brought the focus back to my selfie and my journaling on the journal card. As a final step, I placed clear floral stickers on the background in the four corners of my composition. I love how effortlessly Traci’s collections work together as they make it so easy to create layouts that feel both cohesive and uniquely mine.

The True North and Wander & Wonder collections are so much fun to mix together at every layer! Starting with my mixed media I grabbed elements from both collections; duplicating, flipping, and layering them up on a pattern paper from the Wander and Wonder collection. next I layered my photo on three patterned 3x4 cards from True North, and embellished my page with stickers- of which there are 90 of in the Wander and Wonder collection! I love the cap and sun hat in W&W so I made sure to print larger versions of those as main vocal points from my page. The coup de gras is definitely my large title, made by mixing all colors from the Wander and Wonder alphas and a title embellishment from True North digital kit.

For this mix up of collections I started with a base of journal cards from True North and then used embellishments from both collections to paint a picture that complemented my story. Wander & Wonder had shades of red and orange that pulled out tones from my photos to make them pop. I like adding elements to journal cards like the ‘Bon Voyage’ tag to give it my own unique spin. For the title card, I duplicated the card layer and used the eraser tool to digitally make it appear as though ‘Love’ was added over top of the embellishments and to make it appear as though the anchor was threaded to the word.
