Mix It Up Monday: Poolside + Weekender
Hello and welcome to the Thirty-Third edition of our fun series: Mix It Up Monday! Hey, hey, it's Mix It Up Monday! We love to show you how easy it is to mix and match TRD collections to create something new and wonderful!
For this month’s mash-up, I decided it would be fun to take my brand new summery Poolside Collection and mix it with one of my favorite travel collections: Weekender!.
The colors match well, but I was actually more interested to see who would embrace the summer theme and who would embrace the travel theme, and who would mix up the themes completely!

It’s such fun to mix Traci’s collections and these two, the new Poolside and Weekender from 2023 are no exception! I started by choosing and printing all my papers from Poolside and just printed strips of them from the TN pack which I then used different border punches on. Before laying them onto my white cardstock I stuck down printable washi paper which I had printed with some of the ‘mixed media’ from the Weekender embellishments. The rest of my embellishments and the title for this layout were also from Weekender as the photo I was scrapbooking was about a day at a National Trust house, not at a pool! However these two collections really do work well together. I actually scraplifted a layout I created for the launch of Weekender which I did in May 2023 which I’ve placed on the last slide.

I love the challenge of mixing 2 very differently themed collections together to create something! Traci’s newest collection, Poolside, mixed with The Weekender collection was super fun! Especially considering I had just had The Weekender collection on my desk for another creation!
I’ve selected mostly the paper layers from The Weekender as they worked beautifully with the other bits & pieces that I had picked out from the Poolside collection & my photo! I was unsure to start with about mixing the florals but I think they came together really well, different yet similar enough that they work! Oh, and those alphas are one of my all time fave by Traci! So versatile!

I did something a little different for my Mix It Up Monday. I am still working on my California album from last summer and I had a two page spread I needed to finish up. Well… the colors in these two kits worked perfectly with my photos! On the left page, I used a card from Weekender as my base and on the right page, I used cards from Poolside as my base. After that, I started pulling from both collections to finish out my pages and tie them both together. The cute sunglasses and flower from Weekender were a perfect addition to the Poolside cards. And on the left side, the summer magic word art from Poolside worked well with the Weekender wordart and stickers. I love how it all came together!

I created a layout using one of the mixed media options from the Weekender digital kit and printed it as a 12x12 background. Then I trimmed this paper down to 11.5x11.5 Then, I matted it with another patterned paper from Weekender. I used 1/4” strips of the striped patterned paper from Poolside to layer on top of the mixed media scallops and then stitched them with black embroidery floss. I added my photo and clustered some embellishments from both collection. Here’s the process video.

I absolutely love the bright colors of poolside, and the vibe that goes so well with Weekender! Weekender is a LITTLE more subdued than Poolside, so I bumped down the opacity on that fun yellow sun paper for my background, just to blend the "vibes" a little more. I'm always a fan of Weekender messy painty bits, so those went on the background too! But with these pool photos, the Poolside ellies really had to take over here!
