Scrapbooking Big with Small-Format Printables

No 12x12 printer? No problem at all! I’m going to show you how to create an easy 12x12 scrapbook layout using TRD printables—even if you’re working with a standard-size printer.

The good news—you don’t need a 12x12 printer to craft beautiful full-size layouts. In fact, working with smaller paper sizes opens the door to creative possibilities you might not have tried otherwise.

Get Creative with Patterned Cards

If there’s one product I constantly reach for, it’s 3x4 or 4x6 patterned cards. They may be small, but they’re mighty—and incredibly versatile. Today, I’m using the 3x4 Island Time Patterned Cards + Stickers to create a 12x12 page.

For this layout, I used the 3x4 cards and used a tag die once printed. I arranged them around the page to anchor my photo cluster.

Here’s how you can recreate this look:

1. Pick Your Patterns:

Start by gathering several 3x4 patterned cards in a mix of colors and prints. Each of the collections includes these cards, and they’re perfect for printing ahead of time so you’ve always got options ready to go.

2. Use Metal Dies:

Use metal dies to cut your cards into shapes. You can cut tags, circles, squares, triangles. The possibilities are endless!

3. Plan Your Layout:

Before gluing anything down, arrange your tags on a 12x12 base. Mix and match until you love what you see.

4. Stick It Down:

Once you’re happy with the layout, adhere the tags with a tacky glue or your favorite adhesive.

5. Add Your Finishing Touches:

Time to embellish! Add stickers, die-cuts, or ephemera to bring your page to life. I used the Island Time stickers printed on glossy photo paper. I love the look of printing the stickers on glossy paper.

Happy scrapping—Melissa Minor
