Scrapbooking Through a Lens of Gratitude with Melinda
I recently took a couple of days away with my now 2 teen boys. The minute they both said yes to going (I’ll be honest, I did have hesitations!!) I was so excited and truly grateful.
I had believed that being a “boy Mum” would look very different to what it actually looks like and, though we have our ups and downs, for the most part I am thoroughly enjoying this era of my “Mum life.”
One of the afternoons while we were away we headed down to the beach to watch the sunset.
It was pretty overcast so we didn’t get one of our truly spectacular sunsets which had me looking around where we were sat and taking it all in.
I looked up and saw my big boy sitting on the rocks, looking out at the Indian Ocean and there was my spectacular shot!!
It’s so easy to get caught up in the big things, the heavy things. I find it super important and so good for my mental health to shift my focus, intentionally, to every day, often tiny little moments. To look around and appreciate what I do have. And who I do have. And that these 2 are the people that get to call me Mum.
So, while now can be hard and heavy, I urge you to think about the hidden story or stories behind the photos you take. More of the details that are not obvious in the photo. I have taken this approach to my scrapbooking for many years and it has helped me to tell so many stories that otherwise may have always stayed hidden away, in my memory.
There is a process video as well which you can watch below:
I hope that my share today has inspired you to tell some more of those hidden stories!!
