Future You Will Thank You: Creating Quickpages in Canva with Allie!

I’ll be honest--  sometimes I like just the art and process of scrapbooking, even if I don’t have pictures to scrapbook at that moment. Sometimes, it’s just fun to play around with the elements and papers-- especially digital ones-- even before a story pops up.

That’s how I started with these pages today-- I wanted to play with the older Summer Camp collection, and I knew I would have photos soon-ish of my SON at summer camp, but I don’t have them yet-- because it hasn’t happened yet!  So I decided to make some “quick pages” where I can easily drop the photos into later, and it’s easy to print out and put in my album.

For these pages, I decided to make them “Traveler’s Notebook” size, to put in one of my traveler’s notebooks after I print them (after photos and journaling, of course!). When I’m doing albums or projects for my  son, I like to be mindful of him looking through them and holding a whole album in his hands-- he’s a little one for his age, so I don’t want a whole 12x12 album that he can’t easily flip through by himself.

For these pages, I used Canva. I’m usually an Adobe girl, forever and always, but I’ve been branching out into using Canva for some of my digital and hybrid scrapbooking.  A couple of reasons I used Canva for these pages:

  1. I knew I would want to “duplicate” some of these layouts for the album and pictures-- a 7 year old doesn’t need a whole album of 30+ unique layouts-- he’s happy to see the pictures.  Duplicating is super easy with Canva, and with the photo spots I left, I can just insert the photos.

  2. Most of the photos I’ll be taking will be on my phone, and then I can easily pull up my Canva app on my phone and just drop them in.  It helps me eliminate a step of transferring pictures!

  3. Downloading the finished pages as 4x8 will be super easy to layout and format for an easy print, and I can download them flattened, so they are a smaller file size AND the full size is saved in the Canva cloud!

What do you think? Do you ever make quick pages for yourself? Have you tried out Canva for your digital scrapbooking?
