On a Roll(ed paper) with Becky!
I had this fantastic photo of my grandson eating his first ever Yorkshire pudding and couldn’t wait to scrap it. I decided to use Aflutter as it has the ‘Cute as a Button’ sticker and buttons in the sticker pack and he really is as cute as a button! To create my layout I chose the gorgeous wood grain paper and printed it double sided with the buttons paper on the reverse using double sided matte photo paper. I cut it down to 11.75 square and then made some cuts into it all the way down one side along the different coloured ‘grain’ strips. I then took a pencil and rolled those strips up at different lengths.
I then grabbed some matching inks and on a piece of white card stock, where the strips would be rolled up, painted and splattered those inks to extend the colours.
Once the inks had dried I stuck down the wood grain paper and stuck the rolls into position.
I then stuck down my photo mounted on a piece of plain paper from the collection and added some embellishments from the sticker pack and a title using the digital letters which I printed three times and stacked to give them some depth.
To finish I scattered loads of the buttons from the sticker pack, tone on tone, knotting coordinating thread through some of them and sewing others straight onto the layout.
I didn’t use any other textures apart from the thread and ink yet this layout appears so full of different textures, depths and shadows. I love how by rolling the paper and adding some ink a hybrid layout can come to life!
