From Chaos to Creativity: 6 Tips to Help Busy Moms Conquer Scrapbooking with Erika

Being a busy mom is a rewarding but demanding role. Amidst the chaos, it's important to find time for yourself and nurture your creativity. Scrapbooking allows you to preserve cherished memories while also indulging in a creative outlet. In this blog post, I'll share valuable tips for busy moms who want to create beautiful scrapbook projects while making each one unique using any collection they have at hand.

1. Embrace Your Collection:

As a busy mom, you might not have time to gather a specific themed collection for each project. Instead, learn to work with what you have by. embracing your existing collection and discover the hidden potential within it with some tips I find helpful in my life.

2. Start with the "Rainbow, Neutral, Color, Color, Color" Method:

To create a visually pleasing layout, I use the "Rainbow, Neutral, Color, Color, Color" method. Choose one multicolored paper (rainbows are always a great choice), one neutral paper (don't overthink it -- plain white or black are my go-tos), and three papers in solid colors or with dominant hues. I've found this method brings balance and cohesiveness to your pages.

3. Make the Most of Canva:

Utilize the convenience of the Canva app to create scrapbook spreads. I opt for an 8.5x11 document size to fit two pages perfectly onto one sheet in my Avery mini binder. Canva offers a range of design options and tools to help you bring your vision to life regardless of your dimension needs.

4. Organize and Edit Photos:

As a busy mom, time is precious. Use downtime to edit and organize your photos throughout the week. For me, having small babies, rescue animals, and working full time from home means my edit time happens on restroom breaks 😂 This way, when you sit down to scrapbook, your photos are ready to be included. Streamline the process by using photo editing apps or collage makers to create beautiful photo arrangements.

5. Personalize with Ephemera and Embellishments:

Add personality and charm to your scrapbook pages by incorporating ephemera and embellishments. Look for items in your collection that complement your theme or evoke sentimental feelings.

6. Tell Your Story through Journaling:

Capture the essence of your memories by including heartfelt journaling. Use your phone's note-taking app to jot down special moments, quotes, or anecdotes throughout the week. For me, I only jot down single words that will trigger the memory I need to document. These snippets of personal storytelling will make your scrapbook even more meaningful.

As a busy mom, finding time for yourself can be a challenge, but scrapbooking can provide an outlet for creativity and relaxation. With these tips, you can embrace your existing collection, make the most of available resources like Canva, and create unique and beautiful scrapbook projects that capture your family's special moments. Remember, it's not about perfection but the joy and love you infuse into each page. Happy scrapbooking!
