Ways To Work It Wednesday - Banners

Hey Hey! It’s Ways to Work it Wednesday, the day we bring you an article on how to take something “ordinary” and turn it into something extraordinary!

Today, the team is bringing you some jaw-dropping ways to work with a shape you may already use often: stars! Stars are ubiquitous in scrapbooking, and you may think to yourself, what can I even DO with a star that’s out of the ordinary, so we’ve got some mind-blowing inspiration ahead for you to work outside the box!

Jenn - Happy Day/Happy {Birth}Day

I love to use banners, usually across a page or card or something. However, Traci’s amazing paper layering in her template gave me an idea for this birthday layout. What if I put banners across all those paper layers? I love how it turned out, the banners make it feel festive!

Sara - On The Go & Going Slow

Sara has a fun take on a banner to share! Instead of using traditional banner shapes, she used die cuts from the On The Go & Going Slow collection. Punching a hole in the top of each die cut and stringing them onto hemp cord adds dimension and interest to her greeting card..and it’s crazy cute too!

Theresa - On The Go & Going Slow

Banners make for such amazing texture on a page, and this layout idea does not disappoint! I started out by borrowing the banner shape in the On The Go & Going Slow collection, and added other banner shapes using my punches. I printed and cut a bunch of the banner shapes using Photoshop and my Silhouette, and I also printed the patterned papers so I could use my punches after printing. Once all of the banners were printed and cut, I adhered them lightly to my page and sewed across all of them. I drew some lines across the page just as a light guideline for all of these banners, but in the end I just made these rows and rows, just like at a party!

After adhering and sewing, I printed my four photos and cut them slightly larger than the banners. I added them to the page along with some of the florals and labels in the kit. Pop dots help them stand out a little bit, and lastly I stamped a few stamped sentiments around the page for a bit of pop. Photographer: Kelli Gowdy Photography, High Point NC.
