Make Your Projects Extra Special by Adding Memorabilia

Small objects can tell big stories. Ever since I was a child, I’ve loved collecting pretty papers: movie tickets, city maps, cute clothing tags, even paper napkins with cool designs. Over the years, my little treasure box filled up so much that it barely closed, but I realized I only looked at those memories whenever I added something new.

That’s when I decided to give them a new life by incorporating them into my scrapbooking projects. This way, I don’t just document memories, I make them even more meaningful by including the small objects that were part of that moment or trip.

Memorabilia can be found anywhere: in everyday life, during travels, or at special events. Any little item can become a unique touch in your project. For this layout, I wanted to include a ticket from a small museum I visited in Rome. The ticket itself was beautiful but too large to fit in a mini album, so I had saved it for a 12x12 layout. Instead of gluing it directly to the base of my layout, I created two pockets: one perfectly sized for the ticket so I could take it out and see the information on the back, and another smaller one for a hidden journaling tag.

To complete the composition, I used the Weekender collection, which is perfect for documenting trips and amazing spots in your city. I started by adding watercolor splashes to the background for a playful touch, then built a collage with several photos (including a map), and played with different layers and clusters of die cuts.

I encourage you to have fun adding memorabilia to your projects: concert tickets, subway passes, city maps, special packaging, napkins with restaurant logos, paper coasters… the possibilities are endless!
