Theme Thursday - Summer!

Hey Hey! It’s Theme Thursday and since the OFFICIAL start of summer just kicked off in the Northern Hemisphere, we’re talking all about summer projects today! I love the variety in the projects from the team today and I hope they inspire you too!

Tara - Summer Camp

Summer is my favorite time of year and the perfect time to use the new Summer Camp collection! This charming collection is all about the outdoors and being one with nature and I made a super cute fold mini album to show it off!

The base for the album is the disc bound flip book with 5x5 inch pages that showcase the bright patterned paper of the collection. Each page features a frame or a journal card that is layered with the fabulous ‘outdoorsy’ stickers! There are so many cute flags, trees and sentiments it’s easy to get carried away and it all looks amazing together!

To enclose this disc mini album, I created a chipboard book frame and covered both the inside and outside with more of the fantastic patterned paper. It opens up to reveal a small pocket that can hold more journal cards on one side and a small decorative area on the other. To close it, the attached and embellished tag turns on a brad and slips snugly under the layered stickers.

Caroline - Keep Chasing Rainbows

I LOVE Summer - the sunshine, the heat, the blue skies. So when I saw this as one of the themes for Theme Thursday I had to join in. My process for this project was a little different to my usual one. I normally flip through my story albums (where I house my competed projects and also photos printed ready for stories to tell) and look for photos to match the project theme.

For this project I decided to start with the product. I grabbed out my box of Traci Reed Designs printed digitals and looked for the collection I wanted to work with for this theme. There were a couple that instantly caught my eye. The first was On The Go & Going Slow (perfect for lazy summer days) but I Keep Chasing Rainbows won out!

Next I looked through my photo stream to find a photo to fit my story of Summer. There had been an incredible sunset the night before so I decided to go with that. I love sunsets - that transition time from day to night. It symbolises so many things to me.

Generally I work at either a Life Crafted/ringbound TN size or in a 6x8 album. Again, I decided to mix things up after some recent scrolling through my Instagram feed (and swooning over the Travellers Notebook projects I saw). So I created myself a notebook to work in for this project and to capture summer stories in.

I actually LOVE the smaller size, and the constraint that came along with knowing my page couldn't be too bulky. I opted for much cleaner lines that I usually use in my pages, and a much more simple look with the layers. It took me a while to create this oddly (despite its simplicity) as it was so different to my usual style but I LOVED the process. I was working with the remnants of a previous print job of the Keep Chasing Rainbows collection and I found that working in this smaller format with a simpler style actually lead me to be very focussed at deciding which products to use. I think the simpler design actually really showcases the collection much more than I thought it would ((oh, that rainbow on the left hand page - LOVE!!)

Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the Team come up with for the Summer theme... and looking forward documenting more tales of our Summer in this little notebook.

Chantal - Anywhere But Here

Summer is my favorite season. I love the sun, the long days, and spending time with my family.

Going to the beach, or just for a drink outside, I love it all. But what I love most is our summer Holliday. Two weeks traveling to a nice destination and spend time together. Usually abroad but last two years we stayed in the Netherlands because of the pandemic. We discovered so much pretty places and fell in love with our own country over and over again.

Just as I keep falling  for the Anywhere But Here collection. This time I used a lot of the travel themed ephemera to emphasize the travel and summer theme.

Eraizza - Summer Camp

I love how easy its is to do journaling with Traci’s kits. I am always lazy to do journaling but Summer Camp really inspired me to document our last trip to the beach. I edited the tag form microsoft word and the words turned out good. Added a few more details to finish it.

Sara - Summer Camp

Sara used Summer Camp to document lazy summer days hanging out on her porch!

She created an embellishment collage using stickers and paired them with stamps from her stash to create a bright, summery, and fun spread!

Erika - Sunkissed

I can't help it -- I'm a chronological scrapper through and through. So since summer hasn't yet passed us, I wanted to use the Sunkissed collection for an idea that I had on my mind for a while now and make a visual bucket list, using past photos. I think this will be a great way to grow some small, but consistent, traditions. The left column shows our summer bucket list items from 2021, and I left space on the right to fill in photos from this year as they happen. I love how this turned out!
