Teach Me Tuesday - Stitching Tips

Happy Tuesday, y'all! It's Teach Me Tuesday and today Melinda, Ophie and Nicole are all showing you different techniques for adding stitching to your layouts!

There are some nifty tricks up their sleeves so read on!

Nicole - Renewal + We The People

Hey all!  Do you love the look of stitching on your projects?  I must admit that it really adds something special!  For my stitching project I used a stitching kit that I have had in my stash for quite a while.  I poked holes around the border of my memory index card with a poker and a foamy mat, then I stitched around with white string and a bigger than usual needle.  This technique is quite easy to add just a bit of stitching to your project.

Do you love the look of stitching but don’t want to bother with poking holes and threading needles and doing the actual stitching? Yeah, me too.  So for my second project I have just drawn on some faux stitching.  The first thing I did was added a faux stitch around my layout.  Then I used a ruler to make it look like I stitched through my letters.  I hope either of these stitched projects have inspired you to give it a go!

Stitching, I just love it!

I love the different texture it adds to a page & the extra details and depth it adds!! When playing with hybrid collections like this stitching is a super fun way of adding some oomph!!

As you can see, I've hand stitched my title with embroidery thread. Before I printed this TN page I found a font I LOVED in Photoshop & added my text, exactly where I wanted to add my stitching and voila! A stitching template!

I also added some stitching to border my large tag, I really just love the texture!

The other thing I really LOVE about stitching is you can make it super neat & perfect OR you can make it messy and chaotic!!

For my pages, which are mostly digital, I will use stitching if I want to give a realistic feel to the page. I’ll place it in areas where I know stitching would make since such as stitching down ribbon or stitching down layers of paper. For my page, I use it on the corner of the papers and also over the ribbons under the photo.
