Combining Pockets & 12x12s in your Vacation Album with Melinda
I couldn’t think of a better collection to use to document mine and hubby’s recent quick trip to Bali than the super fun Sunkissed collection!
I’m here today sharing part of the day we toured some of Ubud on our mini holiday in April.
Kicking off with a pocket page of some random photos from the day - little moments that I wanted to capture throughout our adventure.
As you can see, this pocket page is mostly photos with some extra space for journalling (which I need to go back in to add) and the smallest amount of embellishing.
Here are a couple of close ups:
I think that in my album this pocket page will sit first for this day, with my “big stories” (aka 12x12 layouts) to follow, starting with this one:
For this page I started with one of the digital stamps from the collection. I wanted to use this is my title and have it make a statement without taking away from everything else on the page.
I have made the stamp white and then dropped that onto my 12x12 background in PSE.
To give it a little life, I’ve played with the layer styles. I’ve added both a drop shadow and a bevelled edge so this looks almost like its a puffy sticker on the page. This is one of my favourite things to do to a digital element to give it a little extra life!
After adding a couple of patterns behind my photo and a 3 x 4 journal card, I’ve created 2 floral clusters following the curve of the title. I love the way this frames all of the important things on my layout.

From this layout my album will flow into the other 12x12 stories for that part of the day, leading with this page that I shared on the Sweet Steals blog post a couple of days ago:
And, finally, likely right at the end of this “chapter” I created a little pocket of sorts to keep some ephemera that I collected while we were away.
I found a printed glassine bag in my stash that works beautifully with this collection, added a couple of holes for the rings, a journalling card (for the title) and a paper clip and now I have this cute little keepsake pocket to keep all the little bits and pieces I collected while we were away!
I had so much fun on this quick escape that hubby and I took and I have loved remembering all of the details as I scrap them now! I hope that you enjoyed my creations today and found something to inspire you in your own memory keeping!!
Happy Scrapping!
