Pretty Prints With Chantal - Matchbook Album

On May 14th its mother’s day in the Netherlands.

As a mom myself I love the crafty gifts they make at school. All wet from excessive glue and paint but made with lots of love.

This year I want to surprise my mom with a cute homemade gift. I decided to do a little matchbook album. Its an quick and easy project, perfect for left over scraps of paper and embellishments.

I took  white card stock as my base. 1 Strip is 2.6 inch by 6 inch. This one becomes the cover. The other strip is 2.5 by 12 inch. This one will be the pages. To add an extra page I need one more piece of card stock 2.5 by 2.5 inch.

Now we need to score some lines. For the cover we score at 2.5 inch , 2.75 inch 5,5 inch and 5.75 inch. The other strip we score at 2.5 inch, 5 inch, 7,5 inch, 10 inch

Now we going to fold. For the cover all folds will go the same way. For the pages we accordion fold.

I glued the 2.5 inch square to the pages strip to make it a little bit longer. I decorated all pages and the cover with papers and embellishments from the Smitten collection. One of the advantages of printing and cutting yourself is you can size everything to your liking. I made everything a lot smaller.

For the picture frames I used a die from my stash.

Time to assemble … I fold the pages in an accordion and glue the strip in the cover. For this project I only decorated the front of the pages because I wanted to glue them together. But you can leave it as a strip and decorate both sides.

I can slide the bottom part of the cover underneath to keep the album closed. But you can do a lot of things. Think about magnets or felt crow.

It’s a super cute and quick project. A perfect sweet little album as a gift for a proud grandma.

In this case I printed all the embellishments so I had a ton of leftovers from the newest collection Felicity. I also had this cute picture of me and Nick so I decided to go for the blue embellishments.
