Stories Eight & Nine

I had several stories to tell that were not necessarily “my” stories but stories of the family during the month of December, my nephew was born, my brother in law graduated nursing school, my dad is undergoing treatment for Leukemia, and my husband has really leaned into writing poetry, so I decided to create a page that tells all those stories together, paired with the story of a surprise visit from my husband’s aunt.

All of these stories felt like me narrating other people’s stories, so I wanted to create one spread to include them all together.

For story eight, I wanted to keep the page simple, with a focus on the photo, and the relationship it shows, and the story. The journaling was a bit sensitive, so created a pocket with the “all hearts come home for Christmas: 4x6 card from the Festive collection so I could tuck it in.

I added a simple poinsettia + word bit to the photo and the number using the Gold Alphabet Stickers from Citrus Twist.

For the 3x4 side with multiple stories, I again used one of the Simple Stories photo flips to extend my page. I included a photo from each story in the pockets and stamped “other” and “stories” on the December card using the Harper Alphabet Stamp from Citrus Twist Kits and added “4” with the Gold Alphabet Stickers from Citrus Twist so that the card now says “4 Other December Stories.”

I added embellishments to each pocket from the Festive collection and little enamel dots and hearts from the Heart & Home Puffy Stickers I designed with Cocoa Vanilla Studio!

When the pocket flips up, I have a screenshot of one of my husband’s recent poems, plus another journaling card with captions for the photos. The number 9 above my dad to document the day and the page is done!
