Make an Amber Glow Autumn Rainbow with Ronelia

I really loved the subtle soft colours in this collection and this inspired me to try and use colour as my main focus for my blog post. And I am a sucker for a good rainbow and who says rainbows are just for winter, so I thought – why not combine these two and make an autumnal rainbow absolutely covered in stickers!

To start off I pulled all of the coloured Stickers and Ellies into a photoshop document and resized them so they would be on the smaller side. I duplicated each item so I had two of each. This took a while but it was worth it just to see how lovely this autumn rainbow will look.

Next, I painted my rainbow using watercolours. You can paint literally any shape (large circles would be so fun!), and I was inspired to paint this half rainbow shape.

By far, the step that took the longest time was fussy cutting all of these tiny Ellies and Stickers - yes I could have just used print and cut on my Silhouette but I guess I woke up and chose pain today. I organised them by colour so that I knew what I had to work with once I had to start placing and gluing them down.

I then arranged them from big to small so that I could start laying down the bigger pieces and then fill it in with the smaller pieces.

The rest was easy and super relaxing. I just got to gluing them down. Every few I propped up on some foam dots for dimension and visual interest. I didn’t mind the colours overlapping a bit, the messiness and chaotic nature of this technique is what gives it its charm (at least I think so).

Once this was done all I had to do was add my photo (which was matted on papers from the collection), some more embellishments, my title, journaling, and a border to tie it all together. And there you have it, an autumn rainbow layout that tickles my brain in just the right way!
