Six Ways To Add Sparkle To Your Pages with Caroline

Hi Everyone,

I am really excited to be here with my first solo post for Traci’s blog and what better collection for me to work with for this post than the stunning current collection “Moonlit”. I was so inspired by the collection as a whole but particularly the papers and the digital kit that I HAD to write my blog post on this topic!! So ... here are 5 WAYS TO ADD SPARKLE TO YOUR HYBRID SCRAPBOOK PAGES (with a couple of bonus ways mixed in for extra inspiration!!)

SPARKLE #1 – DIGITAL SPARKLE

Traci has added in LOADS of digital sparkle to this collection. I want to take this opportunity to point you in the direction of the DIGITAL KIT even if you are a hybrid/ printable scrapbooker.  I don’t tend to work with the digital kit ... I get super excited, print the papers and stickers etc and then forget to look!! This time I made myself remember and I am soooo glad I did!! The background that you see here is pretty much ALL digital!!

The mixed media is all digital! I simply added it to a canvas.  I then added the gold glitter and multi-colour sparkle stars and printed on textured cardstock!! WOW already!! The colours and glitter show so well on the print!

SPARKLE #2 – MISTS

I then added to that gorgeous digital background with some mists.  I added splatters of colour and then went in with an Iridescent Gold mist and sprayed the whole background!!

It looks amazing!! Finally I added in some really saturated gold mist in splatters before moving on to my third sparkle addition (and I haven’t even added any papers to this layout yet!!) I’ve added a close up of the finished layout below so you can see that mist sparkle...

 SPARKLE #3 – EMBOSSING POWDER

I was so lucky to find a star stamp in my stash that matched the size of the mixed media background I had picked perfectly! I opted to stamp with versamark ink over a few of those background stamps and then added in a holographic embossing powder.  The result is super sparkly but a little more subtle than I had wanted. It is still a really pretty effect (and I add enough sparkle elsewhere on the page that it is probably for the best that it was subtle at this point!!!

I do actually add in an additional area of detail with embossing powder later in the creation of the layout – that time I used a dark purple glitter powder and it is lovely!

 SPARKLE #4 – GLITTER GLUE

I printed out a selection of the glitter flowers from the digital kit to use as my embellishments on this page.  As I had first created the page in Photoshop elements I had re-sized all of these embellishment pieces so they worked well on the page in different sizes.  I fussy cut them out and left a white border to help them pop.  Again, I often don’t think to look in the digital kit for embellishments but it is FULL of gorgeous ones that print out REALLY well for hybrid pages.

I was amazed at how glittery they looked just printed out (another example of Sparkle #1!!) but I decided I wanted more ... which is where the glitter glue came in!!!

I added a purple glitter glue to the blue and purple flowers and leaves, and a pinky-white glue to the orange and red.  This is where the sparkle really took on a new dimesion!!

SPARKLE #5 – SEQUINS

I love to add smaller embellishments into my embellishment clusters for additional detail and texture.  In this layout that just HAD to be sequins!! I have a great selection of sequins and managed to find a mix that brought in the colours from the spread perfectly. Love the shine they add and such an easy way to add in additional sparkle.

BONUS SPARKLE

I decided to add in some bonus sparkle in the form of a glittery gold and white bakers twine on my title tag and also some small areas of Nuvo drops. These last two pieces were not in my sparkle plan but I am glad I added them in as not only do they add in additional shine, but they add in different textures too which is always good for a hybrid page.

I have put together a video of this page coming together which you can find below:

I hope I have inspired you to add in some sparkle to your hybrid or digital pages. It is so easy to do ... and you don’t have to use all of the steps I have used here ... I just like a lot of sparkle!!!
