I was looking through Pinterest for design inspiration and I started seeing designers making their own board games. So naturally I wanted to make my own.

So I went into Canva to see if there was any templates for a board game and there was more than I thought. So I found the easiest looking one. The template I used was made out of a table (think excel). You can easily recreate this using a bunch of squares. I used the color picker to color the squares to match the collection.

Now I just did an Internet search for Christmas trivia and picked the least hard questions. I wanted everyone to have a chance at knowing the answers. Make sure to double/triple the amount of questions then you think you need. I didn’t have enough questions to get through half of a game.

So for the questions and answers I used a rounded rectangle frame to drag and drop the pattern paper from the Make Merry collection. Then I added another rounded rectangle as a solid color background that matched the collection so the text could be seen.

When doing this I did one set of questions and on the next page I did the coordinating answers on the page below and kept them in the same location as the question. I did a screenshot of how it looked in Canva. After these were cut out I glued the questions with the coordinating answers to the back of each other.

Now onto the game pieces. I used a rounded square and colored it to match the collection and then added the stickers to them. I created more than I needed. When I uploaded everything into Silhouette studio to create print and cut pages I duplicated the pieces and mirrored the image so I could glue them to the back of each other.

And there you have it! Your very own board game that wasn’t difficult to make. For me it helped to work on the design for a bit and then step away for a while. When I came back to it I found some mistakes and details that were initially overlooked. Overall it was easy just took a bit of extra attention to detail.
